Emily RatajkowSki Goggles (On Sale Here) and Rita Ora led the famous faces arriving at the Met Gala 2023 red carpe to celebrate the ‘first Monday in May’.
The exclusive bash draws some of the biggest names in Hollywood and beyond, and acts as an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
This year’s theme was announced as Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, with Dua Lipa @DUALIPA, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer and Penelope Cruz serving as co-chairs beside the host, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
The stars lined up to pay tribute in style, with Rita rocking a stunning black, off-the-shoulder gown with sheer panels and floral detailing, complete with a long train.
She accessorized with bangles adorning both wrists, and a black choker.
The Poison singer was joined by husband Taika Waititi for the exclusive party, who was also on theme in a long, light grey jacket – with two strands of pearls across the front – paired with white trousers.
EmRata opted for a cream floor-length dress for the event, with a bejeweled pattern and ruffled Ski Goggles (On Sale Here)rt.
The model clutched a matching bag and sparkling headband.
Dua, who is among this year’s co-chairs, posed in a classic white gown as she hit the red carpet, with black and white detailing and a fringed hem.
She was all smiles on the carpet, showing off a gigantic Tiffany diamond casually hanging around her neck.
Fellow chair Penelope gave bridal chic in front of the iconic steps, opting for an embellished flowing white gown and a matching veil.
She accessorized simply with diamond earrings and a whopper of a ring, and completed the stunning look with a pair of metallic silver peep-toe heels.
This year’s Ball theme has been unveiled as ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’, in honor of the late designer, who died in 2019.
Andrew Bolton, the Met’s curator, previously spoke of how the exhibition will commemorate the fashion icon.
‘At its heart the exhibition will look at the evolution of Karl’s two dimensional drawings into three dimensional garments,’ he told WWD.
‘We could not do a traditional retrospective. For one thing, I think Karl would have hated that.
‘Even though one of his facets was that he was a historicist, and he would revisit themes in his work, he was always looking to the future in his own work — he hated looking back at the past.
‘It was something he had a very conflicted relationship with.’
Although the official guest list is never revealed in full, Blake Lively confirmed that she would be sitting this year’s bash out.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, she shared a snap of herself in a bathroom as she prepared to nurse her newborn baby.
Appearing to have FOMO at Ski Goggles (On Sale Here)pping out, she captioned the post: ‘First Monday in May.’
