A man with cysts ranging from the size of a pea to the size of an orange all over the back of his head is seeking help from Dr Pimple Popper.
The TLC reality programme follows patients across America visiting dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon Dr Sandra Lee for help with their ‘spots’, whether that be masses growing on their body or squeezing blackheads.
So far this series, the professional has helped a woman with a ‘third boob’ behind her armpit and a man with more than 400 growths all over his body.
Now, a man with huge lumps across his head has opened up about his condition, ahead of preparing for surgery.
In a preview clip, he says: ‘I think I’ve got seven or eight, the size of a pea to the size of an orange.’
He goes on to explain: ‘When I was 14 years old, I noticed two small bumps on the side of my forehead, maybe the size of a quarter.
‘I had those removed when I was about 18 years old, but I noticed more started to grow and they got bigger and bigger in my 20s and into my 30s.
‘In the last three to four years, they’ve almost doubled in size.’
The unnamed patient has grown more concerned about the cysts after suffering from hairloss.
He says: ‘Before I started losing hair up top, the hair covered them, but when I started losing hair, they became more and more obvious.
‘I guess I put off having them fixed because I worried that maybe they’d gotten big enough that there would be complications from the surgery and I didn’t want to have to worry about that.’
He then adds: ‘It’s kind of like living life with an evil twin on your head or something.’
This comes after he opened up about wanting surgery just weeks after the death of his wife Becky, tearfully telling viewers: ‘Becky wanted more than anything for me to have these bumps taken care of.
‘Unfortunately, she passed away two weeks ago.’
He later shows Dr Lee: ‘I’ve got these bumps all over my head.’
She explains: ‘When pilar cysts get this large, that tells me they’ve been around for quite a while.
‘And this one is proving to be a bit more of a problem.’
According to the NHS, pilar cysts form around hair follicles and typically affect middle-aged adults. They are a form of Ski Goggles (On Sale Here)n cysts that can run in families.
Dr Pimple Popper airs on TLC in America.
