It turns out even Hollywood star Chris Evans can get ghosted sometimes in the modern hellscape of dating.
Well, in his latest movie at least, anyway.
The 41-year-old Marvel actor has teamed up with leading lady Ana de Armas, 34, for a new Apple Original high-octane rom-com thriller.
The trailer, which dropped on Tuesday, shows his character’s grand romantic gesture going awry in the explosive new trailer for Ghosted.
Evans is shown falling hard for the mysterious Sadie (de Armas), even labelling her ‘the One’ to his family, before embarking on a romantic trip to London to surprise her when she stops answering his messages, ‘ghosting’ him as the kids say.
Or as Evans would call it: ‘Not having an international calling plan.’
After being captured by unknown villains, led by Oscar-winner Adrien Brody, he quickly learns that his new love interest is a CIA operative known as ‘The Taxman’.
Multiple car chases and gun fights ensue, with Evans indignantly telling de Armas: ‘You got me kidnapped and tortured all after one date.’
‘You’re the one who flew to London,’ de Armas replies.
‘It was a romantic gesture!’ Evans retorts.
The pair previously starred together in Rian Johnson’s 2019 whodunnit mystery Knives Out, alongside Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette and Christopher Plummer.
De Armas is also nominated for her first best actress Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, for her turn as screen icon Marilyn Monroe in Blonde.
