Jeremy Renner edited in Mayor of Kingstown posters after devastating snow plough accident
Paramount Plus has edited the marketing materials for Mayor of Kingstown after Jeremy Renner was seriously injured in a snow plough accident.
The 52-year-old actor, known for playing the bow-and-arrow-wielding Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was rushed to hospital following the incident on January 1.
Local police said that The Hurt Locker star was helping a family member free a car from heavy snow, when he was accidentally run over by his own six-tonne ploughing machine.
The American Hustle performer was airlifted to hospital after suffering ‘blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries’ in an accident, a statement from his publicist said.
The incident took place near the Mount Rose Highway, which links Lake Tahoe and south Reno, straddling the Nevada-California bord.
The Avengers actor is currently starring in Paramount Plus’ crime drama Mayor of Kingstown, in which he plays Mike McLusky.
The second season of the series launched on Sunday, with the marketing material changed out of respect for Jeremy, following the accident.
In the updated promotional material, the bruises and cuts have been removed from the actor’s face.
Reflecting on the edit, Hugh Dillon, the show’s co-creator, told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘It’s good of the network. Everybody is sensitive to Jeremy.’
On Tuesday, the Bourne Legacy star shared he had returned home from hospital and was able to watch the season two premiere of Mayor of Kingstown surrounded by his loved ones.
Responding to a tweet from the program’s official account, he penned: ‘Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.’
Throughout his recovery, Jeremy had been sharing glimpses of his time in hospital on social media – including his 52nd birthday celebrations.
He also revealed that he was missing his snow-covered home, but implored people to be safe in the plummeting temperatures.
His sister, Kym, has offered a health update in a chat with People Magazine, telling the publication: ‘We are so thrilled with his progress.
‘If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around. He is crushing all the progress goals.
‘We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.’
