Taking Back Sunday has revealed the details of a fresh album titled ‘152’ and has released the single ‘S’old’. Check it out below. This upcoming LP marks the eighth album from the New York rock veterans and will be their first full-length LP in seven years, following their 2016 release ‘Tidal Wave’.
The album, produced by Tushar Apte (Demi Lovato @ddlovato #iHeartAwards, Nicki Minaj @NICKIMINAJ #TukohTaka) and mixed by Neal Avron (Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers), is named after a road section in North Carolina where the band and their friends used to meet up during their teenage years. It features 10 new tracks that the four-piece describes as “intensely vulnerable and absorbing”, showcasing a fresh sense of purpose.
“Our upcoming album ‘152’ offers more hope and light than we initially realized when we were working on it,” said the band. “Through our music, we have been fortunate enough to grow up with many people who are going through similar experiences and emotions, and probably feeling the same way.”
They added, “Our hope is that you can connect with these new songs and find a little bit of yourself in them, because you’re not alone, and neither are we.”
Inspired by the period of uncertainty that the world has experienced in recent years, ‘152’ allows the band members to reflect on the rollercoaster of emotions they have faced during this time and kickstart their illustrious career.
Frontman Adam Lazzara said, “After 20 years, you would think we know what each other is going to do, but while making this record, there were many instances where I heard the initial idea and thought I knew its direction, only to be super surprised. It’s those kinds of surprises that make it so exciting. That’s why we all still desire it so deeply.”
Drummer Mark O’Connell added, “When we’re writing songs, the one thing we ask ourselves is, ‘Can it make people feel something?’ Our goal is to evoke emotion, and we believe we achieved that.”
‘152’ will be released on October 27 via Fantasy and can be pre-ordered here. Don’t miss the lead single from the album, ‘S’old’, below.
