Blues’ head coach Mauricio Pochettino, determined to add an attacking player before the conclusion of the summer transfer window, has included Barcola as one of the potential signings.
Barcola has shown his versatility as either a forward or a right winger throughout his professional career, which has been solely spent with Lyon. He managed to contribute seven goals and 10 assists in the previous season.
Nevertheless, Chelsea’s admiration for Barcola is not exclusive, with PSG, the reigning French champions, attempting to entice him to reject the Premier League.
According to reports from France, PSG has now put forward a fresh offer to Lyon, which exceeds €40m.
However, even though personal terms have already been agreed between PSG and Barcola, it is believed that their new proposal does not comprise of a player exchange, which Lyon desires as part of the agreement.

Chelsea is still keen on securing Barcola and engaged in discussions with Lyon last week. However, their pursuit suffered a setback recently when they allowed Andrey Santos to join Nottingham Forest on loan, a move that the French club wished for.
Nonetheless, the residents of west London have not given up on signing Barcola yet. As evidence of their intent, they dispatched scouts to observe Barcola’s performance against Nice during a Ligue 1 match on Friday.
Chelsea is also exploring alternative attacking options, such as Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal and Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
