Rebel Moon represents Netflix‘s highly anticipated fantasy science-fiction series by Zack Snyder. While the franchise will be launched with a couple of movies, there is also a new video game expansion in the works. Here’s everything we currently understand.
Zack Snyder first hinted at a Rebel Moon game in an interview in March 2023, where he was initially hesitant to discuss it, referring to it as an “immersive and insane” RPG.

For a bit of background, Netflix is relatively new to the gaming industry, having initiated their mobile game project in November 2021. Their ambitions are extensive, aiming to bring some of their most noteworthy intellectual properties into the realm of video games. As of publication, Netflix has released 70 mobile games and over a dozen interactive specials, with plans for releases beyond the mobile platform in progress.
On May 1st, Super Evil Megacorp announced a significant partnership with Netflix, revealing that they would be developing “an extraordinary new intellectual property.”
The game was officially unveiled at Gamescom 2023 during the Opening Night Live show hosted by Geoff Keighley. During the event, Zack Snyder not only debuted a trailer for the upcoming movies but also delved into the details of the upcoming video game.
It was confirmed that Super Evil Megacorp, who released a press release to confirm their involvement, will indeed be the developer in charge of the game.

Who will be developing the Rebel Moon game?
Super Evil Megacorp, founded by Tommy Krul, is a fully remote game development studio with employees in 11 countries. They were established in 2012.
Their previous projects include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, Catalyst Black, and Vainglory.

What is the Rebel Moon game?
There is limited information available regarding the format of the game. In the developer’s press release, they referred to it as a “four-player co-op action game.”
Some speculate that this implies the game will incorporate elements of a MOBA genre with RPG features.
The press release also states, “We are working closely with the movie team to offer an immersive and detailed exploration of the universe and factions depicted in the films.”
During Gamescom, Snyder mentioned that the game “will take place immediately after the events of the two movies,” and added, “players will have the ability to choose their rebel character and embark on missions either solo or in co-op.”
On which devices will the game be playable?
No specific devices have been announced thus far. However, considering Super Evil Megacorp’s previous work, it is likely that the game will initially focus on mobile platforms.
Nevertheless, it is known that Netflix plans to expand its gaming offerings to televisions in the coming months and years, suggesting that the game will eventually be available on a wide range of devices.
When can we expect more details about the game?
On the day of Gamescom, Super Evil Megacorp announced that the next information update would be in 2024.
Lastly, in addition to a video game set in the Rebel Moon world, a tabletop role-playing game is also scheduled for release. This game will include a game master guide and a player handbook.
