New Amsterdam dominated the Netflix top 10 charts in the United States earlier in 2023, with the addition of seasons 1-4 to the United States service throughout the early months of the year. The fifth season wrapped up its airing on NBC and now we have received confirmation that it will be coming to Netflix.
For those who are unaware, New Amsterdam is a medical drama on NBC that follows the story of Dr. Max Goodwin, portrayed by Ryan Eggold. Dr. Goodwin tries to save one of the oldest public hospitals while also dealing with his own personal struggles and relationships.
Here’s a quick recap of New Amsterdam’s availability on Netflix so far.
Seasons 1-2 were announced to be coming to Netflix in January 2023, with the announcement happening in December 2022. These two seasons were released on January 1st, 2023.
Then, on February 1st, 2023, Netflix licensed the third and fourth seasons of the show.
Now, let’s talk about season 5 of New Amsterdam. It aired between September 20th, 2022 and January 17th, 2023. The final season of New Amsterdam had fewer episodes compared to the fourth season.

Initially, we were unsure whether season 5 of New Amsterdam would be available on the streaming service, and we predicted that if it did, it would take around a year after the season finale for it to be released.
Fortunately, our prediction was incorrect. The release schedule for September 2023 has now been confirmed, and we know that New Amsterdam season 5 will be added to Netflix US on September 20th, 2023.
Where can you watch New Amsterdam season 5 before it arrives on Netflix?
If you’re eager to watch the series before it becomes available on Netflix, your only option is to watch the fifth and final season of New Amsterdam on Peacock.
All five seasons can be found on Peacock, but be aware that unlike Netflix, where the series is available on the advertising tier, it is only accessible on Peacock’s premium tier.
Will more seasons of New Amsterdam be available on Netflix internationally?
What if you live outside the United States? For most regions, you only have access to the first two seasons, and there is no indication that more seasons, including season 5, will be available on your streaming service.
As we reported earlier this month, New Amsterdam currently shows removal notices for viewers outside the United States. If you are in Canada or Australia, you will see seasons 1-2 leave Netflix in mid-February 2023.
Fortunately, Netflix US will retain all four seasons of New Amsterdam until January 2025, as of the time of publishing.
