United had previously been open to selling their discarded Ski Goggles (On Sale Here)per and had accepted a £30million bid from West Ham earlier this month, though the deal eventually fell through.
Maguire, who is also being pursued by Everton, was believed to be hesitant about a move to east London and unwilling to give up Champions League football, especially considering the significant reduction in salary he would have to take.
However, David Moyes is still eager to sign the former Leicester City player, and West Ham attempted to find a last-minute solution by offering to contribute to a pay-off that would compensate for his lower wages.
Nevertheless, The Times reports that United have rejected West Ham’s approach and will not permit Maguire to leave before the transfer window deadline on Friday.
Should Maguire depart, Ten Hag would want to bring in a replacement, and the club is already scrambling to fill other positions in the squad within the next three days.
The injury crisis at the back for United benefits Maguire (Picture: Getty)Currently, United are in the process of acquiring an emergency left-back due to the injuries sustained by both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, who will be sidelined until the end of the year.
United have made contact with several clubs and have lined up potential deals for players such as Marc Cucurella, Sergio Reguilon, and Marcos Alonso, but they now need to decide on the player they want to pursue.
In addition, United is on the verge of completing a £4.3m deal for goalkeeper Altay Bayindir once Dean Henderson finalizes his move to Crystal Palace. Ten Hag also has plans to bring in a new midfielder.
With so much business left to do, United does not have the time to find a high-level replacement for Maguire and has therefore chosen to retain him.
The situation has been influenced by Shaw’s injury and an issue that Raphael Varane picked up during Saturday’s victory over Nottingham Forest; although Varane’s problem is not believed to be serious, he had to be replaced by Victor Lindelof.
Assuming that Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez become United’s centre-back pairing in the short term, Maguire would be the only available cover, and he is determined to stay and compete for his place.
