Netflix announced in June 2023 that it would acquire a plethora of licensed content from HBO in the United States and other regions. The release of Ballers and Insecure marked the beginning, and now the influential war miniseries Band of Comrades and The Pacific will be added in September 2023.
Band of Comrades, based on the book of the same title by historian Stephen Ambrose, chronicles the journey of Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, from their training at Camp Toccoa to D-Day, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, and the surrender of Germany. The series initially aired on HBO from September to November 2001.

All three men served in the 1st Marine Division.
