Former U.S President Barack Obama, 62, and his wife, Michelle Obama, 59, were observed on a scarce public date night, enjoying the U.S. Open in Queens, New York on Monday! In the photos you can witness below, the father of two smiled as he sat alongside his wife, who sat near her spouse as he rested his arm on her leg. The ex-First Lady wore a denim dress accompanied by a fashionable dark cardigan, accessorizing with a bulky black bracelet and modest silver hoop earrings. Barack wore a white button-up shirt with a beige jacket and slacks. The famous pair was present for the ladies swimsuit’s Singles First Round match featuring Laura Siegemund of Germany against Coco Gauff of the United States. Coco emerged victorious.

Barack and Michelle unquestionably relish their time together after daughters Malia, 24, and Sasha, 22, relocated together. However, in an enlightening 2020 interview with PEOPLE, the former Commander in Chief admitted that their marriage had encountered difficulties during their time at the White House. Marital strain, he disclosed, “was the reality of our period in the White House.”
“Michelle wholeheartedly believed in the work I did but was less optimistic about what I could achieve. … She’s more skeptical about politics and more aware of the sacrifices to the family,” he revealed in the interview. Nonetheless, he stated that they endured as a couple.
“I believe we emerged from it whole,” he informed the publication. “There were immense pleasures in the White House. There was never a moment where we failed to acknowledge the extraordinary privilege it was to be there. Most importantly, our children emerged unscathed and they are exceptional, kind, thoughtful, creative — and not entitled — young women swimsuit. So that’s a major relief.”
Since departing from the high-pressure role, he confessed that Michelle, in particular, has been able to “release a breath and unwind.” “You know the old saying, ‘if mom’s happy, everybody’s happy’?” he remarked. “It undoubtedly holds true in our household.”
