EastEnders lines up what is set to be one of its most heartbreaking weeks ever, with Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) final few days almost upon us.
Knowing the end is near, Lola’s love d ones gather, with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) in particular struggling to come to terms with everything, though his attention is soon elsewhere when Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) riles him up.
Billy retaliates by smashing the window of the Minute Mart, before accidentally hitting the villain, resulting in his arrest, with his nearest and dearest desperately trying to get him released, knowing Lola is running out of time.
Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), meanwhile, tends to Lola’s every need, with nurse Suzanne explaining the there will now be long periods of unconsciousness, so it’s time for her love d ones to say goodbye.
Jay battles with saying farewell to his belove d Lola, while Phil (Steve McFadden) also struggles to accept the situation.
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay), meanwhile, go into Lola’s bedroom and say goodbye, promising to look after Lexi (Isabella Brown) for her.
Heartbreaking and tragedy will ensue, with Lola passing away in subsequent scenes.
Elsewhere in the Square, Linda after (Kellie Bright) is left utterly stunned when George Knight (Colin Salmon) rocks up with daughters Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry) in tow, revealing that he’s Elaine Peacock’s (Harriet Thorpe) partner and that he’s there to assist her with running The Vic.
The realisation that this was Elaine’s plan all along dawns on the landlady, who is filled with rage over what has transpired.
George is quick to do some damage control, adamant that he won’t cause any trouble, claiming all he wants is to build a new life with his love d ones, but will this ultimately prove to be the case?
Or has the newcomer got ulterior motives in coming to the Square?
It’s going to be a week that will change the Square as we know it, so make sure you don’t miss a second of it.
EastEnders airs these scenes between Monday, May 29 and Thursday, June 1 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
