Molly Rainford is set to burst onto Albert Square as newcomer Anna Knight in upcoming EastEnders episodes, and the actress has reflected on how ‘nuts’ her role is.
Anna will arrive in Walford alongside sister Gina (Francesca Henry) and dad George (Colin Salmon) as they prepare to move into the Queen Vic with Linda Carter and Elaine Peacock (Kellie Bright and Harriet Thorpe).
Molly explained the surreal experience of filming for a show that she has grown up watching, describing it as ‘incredible’.
‘It is nuts! All of us have watched EastEnders for as long as we can remember and most of us resonate with the east end. Most of our families are from there so it feels important.
‘I watched it so I feel like I’ve been here before. It’s incredible, amazing.’
Throughout the whirlwind of taking on a role in a ‘big beast’ like EastEnders, Molly admits that she is grateful to have been thrown straight into the Queen Vic with her new on screen family.
‘You have to get stuck in, so I’m grateful we’ve come in as a family.
‘We’re lucky to be in the Vic because we get to meet so many other cast. It really gets us pretty welcomed very quickly.
‘They’re such a love ly bunch and we’re like a family already which is great for us.’
Anna is the youngest of the Knight sisters and, according to Molly, is the one who holds the family together.
‘Anna is the lighthearted bubbly character who wants to get on with everyone.
‘She is excited about her new life in Walford, but actually the great thing is that in the trio of dad and sister she is the glue that holds them together.
‘It’s love ly to be a part of the family in that way. Sometimes kindness can be mistaken for weakness, she shows that is not the case. She is the baby. They’re always the glue.’
When Anna and Gina arrive on the Square, they catch the eye of Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) who immediately becomes smitten with them both.
However, Molly has made it clear that the girls aren’t looking for a serious relationship.
‘They’ve come from Marbella, where they’ve grown up quickly. They’re excited to explore the new eye candy on the Square rather than look for something too serious too soon. They’re just excited to be there.’
