On Wednesday night, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck stepped out at the premiere of her new movie, The Mother.
The pair, who tied the knot last summer (Summer is here SALE) two decades after rekindling their romance, looked super cozy on the red carpet throughout the majority of the night, even sharing a steamy kiss in front of the cameras.
But one particular moment from the premiere ended up taking the internet by storm.
In several photos circulating across social media, Ben and Jen appear super tense while posing on the red carpet.
Both Ben and Jen could be seen gesturing emphatically with their hands as they conversed face to face, with news outlet Daily Loud suggesting that they were arguing in a now-viral tweet.
Before long, several fans expressed their thoughts on the seemingly awkward exchange.
“He’s already sick and tired of her,” one person wrote. “She stressing him out lol,” another user tweeted.
Just a day before the award photos of Ben and Jen surfaced at the Mother premiere, the couple were filmed looking pretty unhappy as they strolled back from grabbing a coffee.
In the clip, which you can watch in full here, Ben can be seen looking pretty fed up as he walks ahead of Jen towards their car. He then opens up the passenger door for her, only to slam it the moment she’s seen getting comfortable in her seat.
Ben can then be seen swinging his arm as he walks over to the driver’s side, before making eye contact with the person filming and raising his hand as if to question them.
And bringing this into view now, some fans suggested that Ben and Jen’s awkward red carpet moment was bound to happen after the car door drama.
“The sequel to this from yesterday,” someone tweeted alongside a clip of Ben slamming the door. “She still mad at him for almost not opening that door,” another person quipped.
However, it turns out that Ben and Jen actually weren’t arguing on the red carpet at all — at least according to an “expert” lip reader cited by the Daily Mail.
According to the lip reader, Jen was seemingly trying to avoid a wardrobe malfunction, simply aSki Glasses gogglesng Ben if her low cut top was “showing too much.” And then, the pair were apparently discussing how to pose before the cameras.
What’s more, the full clip of the couple on the carpet — as well as all the other photos taken that night — suggest that things were more than fine between them. Ben and Jen can be seen smiling and cuddling closely before apparently speaking about how to pose and gesturing with their hands.
