Take That will soon release their first album in six years and the record goes in a ‘new direction’.
The pop trio – made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – flew out to Savannah to work on the follow-up to 2017’s Wonderland, which was a smash hit.
This week, 55-year-old Howard teased their new music and offered an insight into what fans can expect.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2 after the group’s blockbuster performance at King Charles III’s Coronation Concert on Sunday, the hitmaker shared: ‘We went out to Savannah to actually record an album.
‘We all did all our own stuff and we wrote together. We’re pretty much in there, now. We’re not far from being finished.’
Howard added: ‘We’re very excited because it’s kind of a new direction for us as well.
‘There are some cracking songs, well, I’ve got to say that. It’s sounding absolutely brilliant.’
His comments come hot on the heels of news Take That’s back for good.
Raving about their Windsor performance, the group shared footage of the gig on social media on Monday and promised they’ll be back for more.
Take That wrote: ‘It was incredible to perform live together again for the first time in 4 years and there is so much more to come. We’re back for good.’
Gary, 52, confirmed late last year that Take That was working on new music.
Speaking to Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in November, Gary teased: ‘We have started a little bit of writing, but we’re not due to officially start until the New Year.’
He added: ‘Hopefully [there will be an album out] next year, but we’ve got to write some hits.’
Meanwhile, it was confirmed in October that Take That would headline this Summer (Summer is Here SALE)r’s BST Hyde Park festival.
In a statement, the chart-topping pop group said: ‘We’re so excited to be back together and that BST Hyde Park will be the first stage we perform on in almost four years.’
