There’s no doubt that the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest is going to be a show-stopping affair – with Rita Ora also joining in for the spectacle.
Fresh from her gothic turn at the Met Gala in New York with her husband, filmmaker Taika Waititi, the singer will be among the artists performing as an interval act at a semi-final show.
Rita is keeping to the same colour palette as her recent Prabal Gurung gown, wearin a black latex corset for her performance, along with a pair of hot pants, elbow-length glove s, tights and black boots.
The 32-year-old’s ensemble also features a train of tulle attached to her waist, that’s appears to be removed at some point during her song.
Her dancers are similarly dressed in black, wearing a variety of shorts, trousers and mesh tops with slicked-back hairstyles.
In one photo from the performance, Rita is making a claw gesture with her left hand, while holding the mic to her mouth in her right as she sings enthusiastically.
Rita will be performing her new single Praising You at the semi-finals on Tuesday May 9, it was previously revealed.
However, the news that she would be singing at the competition raised some eyebrows, considering she turned down the chance to represent the UK at Eurovision 13 years ago.
After auditioning to represent the nation, Rita was selected for the Song Contest, before pulling out.
At the time, she said: ‘I did it because I thought it was a chance to sing, but then I felt inside that it wasn’t right for me’.
Rita will take to the stage durin gthe fisrt semi-final show, followed by The X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson and Ukrainian singer Alyosha, who represented her country at Eurovision in 2010/
Host Julia Sanina will also take tot he stage to perform part of Маяк by her band The Hardkiss, symbolising the competition’s message of being ‘united by music’.
Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon was also seen at the rehearsal for the first semi-final, as one of the co-hosts of the competition.
Speaking ahead of her role, the 44-year-old said that this year’s Eurovision is ‘so much more than a competition’.
‘It’s very important. We feel that sense of responsibility, to do it with joy, love ,’ she said.
Alesha will be presenting alongside Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian musician Julia, with longtime Eurovision commentator Graham Norton taking part for the final.
