CM Punk was reportedly backstage before tonight’s episode WWE Raw.
This week’s sold out show is taking place in the wrestling legend’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois and it’s said the star – who walked out of the company in 2014 and has had a tense relationship with them ever since – was visiting at the Allstate Arena.
It’s said the former world champion was ‘backstage for a bit’ at the same venue where he beat John Cena for the WWE Title at Money In The Bank in 2011.
As reported by PWInsider, source claimed Punk ‘briefly’ met WWE Hall of Famer Paul ‘Triple H’ Leveque – who serves as the company’s chief content office and head of creative – which would be the first time they’ve met in person in nine years.
There is ‘no word’ on why the star was backstage or who he was visiting, but it’s said he ‘met with several other WWE talents’ before being asked to leave the arena, with one source suggesting it could be because he is under contract with another company.
According to the report, Punk, who returned to wrestling in August 2021 as part of the AEW roster – ‘immediately said his goodbyes and left the building’ when asked.
