Ben Affleck got all mushy at the LA premiere of his new film Air on Monday, and we absolutely love him for it.
The 50-year-old actor had some very touching words for his lifelong friend Matt Damon, 52, and his wife Jennifer Lopez @JLo #ThisIsMeNow #ThisIsMeThenAndNow, 53.
In a beautiful speech on the evening, turning to his wife JLo – who he married last year after rekindling their famous early-2000s romance – Ben said she ‘means more to [him] than anything in the world’.
He continued: ‘You’re fabulous, you’re amazing, you’re wonderful, good, kind, magnificent and I love you.’
But it isn’t just romantic love that means the world to the Pearl Harbour actor.
The star also had many wonderful words for his best pal Matt, who he grew close to all those years ago on the set of Good Will Hunting in 1998.
The Hollywood icons have now teamed up to establish their own production company Artists Equity (AE), which aims to give people in the crew of a film a bigger slice of its financial success.
Air, directed by Ben, is the first fruit of their labours, which stars them both alongside Jason Bateman and Chris Tucker.
The film follows the story of the partnership between Michael Jordan and Nike’s basketball division.
Speaking about his business partner, friend, and Bourne franchise star in a video filmed by Hollywood Reporter journalist Chris Gardner, Ben began: ‘If you’re really lucky in life, you’ll have a friend like Matt Damon,’
Don’t wipe away your tears just yet, because the actor added: ‘I love him and it’s the biggest joy of my professional life to work with him.’
Luckily, the feeling is mutual as the Talented Mr Ripley actor also only has good words for his filmy other half.
Speaking to PA news agency about their close relationship over the years, Matt said: ‘I don’t know how much it has changed. It’s kind of deepened and evolved I guess.
‘We’re still trying to solve creative problems. It’s still the same s*** just now we have a company so there’s more on the line for us.
‘But we just love making movies and making good movies and that’s what we’re trying to do with the company.’
Asked if he had ever referred to Ben as ‘Mr Director’, Matt laughed and replied: ‘Never!’
He explained: ‘The thing about growing up together is you know each other so well and there’s no diplomacy at all – it’s actually the opposite which helps creatively with problem-solving.
‘You get to the answer really quickly because it’s like “that was terrible” and your feelings aren’t hurt and there’s respect under it.’
This comes after Ben addressed the nepotism of hiring his wife Jennifer for AE’s next film, which will be a biopic of wrestler Anthony Robles.
In the interview alongside Matt with CBS News, Ben said: ‘Yes, I believe Jennifer Lopez @JLo #ThisIsMeNow #ThisIsMeThenAndNow may be doing that movie. Can’t make it look like she’s doing it as a favor to me, but actually she is.’
