TEXAS CHAINSAW MASCARA ** USA 2022 Dir: Bill Zebub. 63 mins
Despite the name TEXAS CHAINSAW MASCARA is not a horror parody of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre but it could have been. Bill Zebub originally came up with the idea to make it a comedy but as he wrote the story he realised he had something better on his hands.
3 friends from New York decide to visit Texas with hopes to see some sites from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. As luck would have it their car breaks down and being in the middle of nowhere they have no idea where to get help from. Fortunately chirpy southern gal Heather (Heather Beck) is out for a walk and is willing to help these out-of-towners by taking them to her family home but when they arrive these city folks views clash greatly with these Texans resulting in bloodshed.
As is the case with the majority of Bill Zebub movies there is some nudity and in this film it is Dani Bliss who plays Danielle who gets to be topless and in lingerie for the majority of the movie with more then her vibrant hair colour catching the eye.
Shot in 4K resolution it is a crisp looking film with a mixture of characters who are distinctive. The most compelling character is Susan played by Maya Waters who is the matriarch of the Texas family who doesn’t take kindly to the strangers judgemental views.
As of 2022, Bill Zebub has Directed over 60 movies and he clearly has his vision for what he wants his films to be and goes ahead with it. Bill Zebub movies are very much like Marmite – you will either love it or hate it – but it is also worth noting that he has a loyal fanbase and the crowdfunder for TEXAS CHAINSAW MASACARA raised over $6,000. He rightfully made the decision to keep this film at just over an hour so it will appeal to those looking for a short exploitation flick.
When you are looking for your next Texas Chain Saw fix just be careful to not confuse this film with the 2008 porno The Texas Vibrator Massacre, though with other Bill Zebub movies titled such as Dickless Zombies (2021) the confusion would be understandable.
