Man’s utter dismay at finding just one lonely hazelnut in his chocolate bar
A chocolate lover was left heartbroken after finding a solitary hazelnut in his bar of Dairy Milk Wholenut.
Matt O’Baoill bought the Cadbury treat for his girlfriend while shopping at his local Spar ‘in a rush’ – meaning he didn’t have time to conduct the ‘braille’ test, checking the bottom for a satisfactory distribution.
When she opened the packet, she found just one hazelnut sitting meekly in the very centre of the 180 gram bar.
The 28-year-old musician said: ‘There may have been some extra nut remnants, some nut shrapnel, but that was all there was in there.’
He added: ‘It was a great disappointment.’
Matt – one half of hip hop duo Tebi Rex – posted the evidence on his TikTok page, where he struggled to find the right words for his disappointment.
In the video, he says: ‘We have been robbed, bamboozled, hoodwinked, flabbergasted, taken aback, taken for a fool, you’re a goat.’
People packed the comments with their own views on the controversy, with one suggesting: ‘To be fair they said “whole nut”, not “whole nutS”.’
Dublin-based Matt replied, branding the commenter a ‘Cadbury apologist’.
Most of the replies, however, expressed support and empathy with him.
Tonia Weber said the same thing happened to her twice, and confessed: ‘Now I’m constantly fondling bars of chocolate to make sure it’s got adequate nut action.’
A Cadbury spokesperson said: ‘We’re very sorry to hear about this customer’s experience.
‘This will be investigated further but so far is an isolated incident, the quality of our products is of paramount importance.’
