Ted Lasso season 3 first look teases intense rivalry between Ted and Nate while hinting at release date

Warning: spoilers ahead for Ted Lasso season 2.
It looks like the competition is going to be heating up when Ted Lasso returns for season 3 on Apple TV Plus, as Nathan ‘Nate’ Shelley (Nick Mohammed) fully embodies his brand new managerial role.
It’s safe to say that ever since the series premiered in 2020, it’s become a comfort watch for people across the globe, with Jason Sudeikis starring as the ever-heartwarming titular character.
However, a first look image for its (apparent) final outing hints that there could be some bad blood in the air when Ted and Nate come face to face as rivals, as the streaming platform hints at the release date.
In the final episode of the second season, Nate had finally had enough of feeling neglected at AFC Richmond since joining the coaching staff, resulting in him switching alliances.
The football team’s owner, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) was left reeling when she discovered that her ex-husband Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head) had bought West Ham United.
Not only that, but Rupert used Nate’s disgruntled attitude towards Richmond to his advantage, by making him the new manager of the London side.
In a new image released for the upcoming season, it appears that Richmond and West Ham could be going head to head on the pitch.
Nate and Ted stare at each other in a lift, with the former looking decidedly more stern, while the latter gives one of his signature, warm smiles.
Rupert stands in the background, looking ominous in an all-black ensemble, while the West Ham logo can be seen on the wall, insinuating they’re at West Ham’s London stadium.

Several fans on Twitter expressed their excitement over the tantalising tease, with many begging for a trailer to drop soon.
‘This is all we get guys. A tiny crumb. We will soon starve,’ one fan wrote, while another said: ‘Hell yeah!!’
While an exact release date hasn’t been revealed as of yet, Apple TV Plus did confirm that it will be coming in spring this year.
That means that the launch could span from anywhere between the end of March and May… so fingers crossed fans have more information soon.
The first two seasons of Ted Lasso are available to watch on Apple TV Plus.
