Marvin Gaye III’s wife takes out restraining order against him after arrest

Marvin Gaye’s son has received a restraining order from his wife, Wendy Gaye, after he was arrested a few days ago, according to reports.
Marvin Gaye III, 57, allegedly pointed a gun at Wendy and his cousin on 12 January before being arrested the day later.
The son of the famous Let’s Get It On hitmaker is perhaps most famous for his five-year legal battle with Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams over their 2013 song Blurred Lines, which Gaye III claimed was copyright infringement of his dad’s 1977 tune Got to Give It Up.
In the end the Blurred Lines duo were ordered to pay $5.3 million (£4.3mill) to the Gaye family for compensation.
But now Gaye III is hitting the headlines for different reasons.
On January 12, cops allegedly surrounded Gaye III’s Calabasas LA home and shouted for him to come out and face the music, but he had already left.

Law enforcement officials told TMZ that Gaye III subsequently turned himself in at 5pm the next day, where he was reportedly booked on misdemeanour domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon charges.
Sources later told the outlet that Gaye III had previously physically assaulted his wife and cousin before the most recent incident.
Gaye was released, pending investigation, after he posted a $50,000 (£40,900) bond, but an emergency protective order was put in place to ensure he stayed away from the alleged victims.

According to online records Wendy has now filed for a domestic violence restraining order against her husband following the incident.
Gaye III was adopted by 70s music legend Marvin Gaye and his wife Anna Gordy Gaye after the latter’s niece gave birth to him at 16 years old.
The relationship between Marvin Gaye and his wife Anna was a turbulent one, as was a theme throughout the late singer’s whole life, which came to an abrupt end when he was shot by his own father one day short of his 45th birthday on April 1, 1984.
As for the Motown musician’s grandchildren, in 1995, Gaye III had his first son, Marvin IV, on the 56th anniversary of his father’s birth, and five years later, his second son Dylan was born.
