Iran Wins Best Foreign Film At The 2017 Oscars — But The Director Didn't Show In Protest Of Trump's Travel Ban!

We had a feeling this year’s ever-political Oscars would culminate during the Best Foreign Language Film category!

Donald Trump once again found his way into Sunday’s show when Iran won the award for The Salesman — and the director didn’t show up to collect the award.

Filmmaker Asghar Farhadi boycotted the ceremony due to Trump’s travel ban, proving that you can keep a country out but you can’t stop them from making great art!

Iranian-American space tourist Anousheh Ansari accepted the award on his behalf, speaking Farhadi’s words through a powerful letter about the “inhumane law” that creates fear by “dividing the world into the ‘us’ and ‘our enemies.'”

She continued with the letter, which called the ban “a deceitful justification for regression, and war.” If POTUS didn’t change the channel yet, we have a feeling he did after this!
